Strategic IT Consulting in West Monroe, LA
NewRockIT offers strategic IT consulting for owners and operators in West Monroe, Monroe, Ruston, and remote organizations that need a second brain on technology decisions—not a slide deck from a firm that will not implement anything. Roadmaps, vendor selection, security posture, and budget conversations are grounded in the same practice that can also build and run the result.
Advice that can be executed by the same people
Most “IT strategy” is either a vendor pitch or a document nobody implements. NewRockIT consulting exists for a narrower job: help an owner decide, in writing, what to do next with Microsoft 365, security, custom software, or a managed provider—and, if you want, do the work.
That is why consulting sits beside managed IT and development instead of above them as a separate brand. Fractional technology leadership here means Josh Haber in the conversation, not a rotating analyst. If you need a 20-person PMO, we are the wrong firm, and we will say that before you have paid for a kickoff.
Typical Northeast Louisiana questions: Should we keep the in-house person and add a partner, or move fully to managed IT? Is this ERP or camera system a reasonable buy? Are we actually backing up Microsoft 365? What would a ransomware weekend look like? Those are consulting engagements with a finish line.
Vendor selection without the affiliate script
We will evaluate vendors you already have and ones you are considering. We sell Microsoft-focused services and sometimes point at partner catalogs for hardware. We will still tell you when a quoted stack is oversized, when a “free” appliance is locked to a bad contract, or when the cheapest bid left backup out.
Security and compliance conversations stay inside what is true for a small or mid-size operator. We will not pretend a 12-person firm needs a full-time GRC department. We also will not shrug at missing MFA because “we are just a small office.” The identity-first and ransomware posts are the public version of that standard.
Deliverables are short on purpose: findings, recommended sequence, budget ranges, and risks of doing nothing. You can take that packet to another implementer. You do not have to.
When consulting should not be the engagement
If you already know you need managed IT or a tenant hardening, skip the strategy theater and start there. Consulting is for uncertainty, conflict between options, or a board that wants an independent read. It is not a required first invoice.
If the real need is a custom application, we will say so and point at development, not bill six weeks of workshops to discover that a portal is the product.
Remote nationwide clients use the same format over calls. On-site in West Monroe, Monroe, or Ruston is useful when the wiring closet and the politics are both in the building.
What is included
- IT assessments and technology roadmaps
- Budget planning and vendor evaluation
- Security and compliance readiness reviews
- Digital transformation and modernization planning
- Project oversight and implementation advisory
- Leadership briefing and board-ready recommendations
How we work
- A scoped question: a purchase, a tenant review, a multi-year roadmap, or “is our current MSP doing the job.”
- Interviews and a look at the actual systems—not a survey-only report.
- Written recommendations in business language, with options and what we would not do.
- Optional implementation through managed IT, Microsoft, development, or cybersecurity so the memo does not die in email.
On-site vs remote
Assessments can be on-site in Northeast Louisiana or remote with screen share and tenant access. Board or owner briefings are scheduled during business hours. This is not an anonymous research desk.
Cities we serve
In-person consulting across West Monroe, Monroe, Ruston, and nearby towns; remote nationwide for the same style of engagement.
Frequently asked questions
Is this fractional CIO service?+
It is founder-led technology guidance with a defined question and deliverable. It is not an unnamed “fractional CIO” subscription unless we write that retainer explicitly.
Will you implement what you recommend?+
If you want us to, yes, through managed IT, Microsoft, development, or cybersecurity. You can also take the written recommendations elsewhere.
Do you work with our existing IT person or MSP?+
Yes. An independent review of a current provider is a common request. We will be direct and specific, not theatrical.
How long does a typical engagement take?+
Many owner questions close in one to three working sessions plus a written summary. Multi-year roadmaps take longer because the inventory has to be real.
Do you consult outside Louisiana?+
Yes, remotely. On-site is scheduled for Northeast Louisiana. We will not fly a theater team to a two-hour meeting by default.
Are you independent of the vendors you mention?+
We implement Microsoft 365 and may use partner catalogs. Recommendations still have to survive “would I run this for this company.” We state when we would also be the implementer.
Can you talk to a bank, attorney, or board?+
Yes. Briefings are in business language. We do not produce fake maturity scores.
What will you not do in consulting?+
Invent headcount, certifications, or 24/7 on-site coverage. Rubber-stamp a purchase you already decided on if it is a bad fit. Write a 80-page report nobody will read.
