Cybersecurity Services in West Monroe, LA
NewRockIT builds practical cybersecurity for West Monroe, Monroe, Ruston, and nationwide remote clients: MFA and identity, email security, DNS filtering, endpoint detection, backups, and ransomware readiness. This is not a 24/7 SOC we do not run. It is a founder-led hardening and monitoring practice tied to Microsoft 365 and managed IT.
Identity, email, DNS, EDR, backups—in that spirit
Attackers in 2026 still love a password that works from a new country and a mailbox with no MFA. Firewalls matter; they are not the front door anymore. NewRockIT’s cybersecurity work starts with identity: MFA, Conditional Access, privileged accounts, and making sure the person who left last quarter cannot still open SharePoint. The longer public version is the identity-first security article.
Email remains the payload path. Filtering, safe attachments, and a reporting habit beat a once-a-year slideshow. We will train people; we will not pretend training is a control if MFA is off. DNS filtering (including DNSFilter-style blocking we have written about for Northeast Louisiana) stops a lot of junk before a browser warning. EDR is what you run when antivirus is the wrong century. Backups—tested restores, including Microsoft 365—are the difference between a bad week and a closed company.
Ransomware readiness is a checklist you can run, not a fear campaign. We published that checklist in 2026 and use it in client conversations: inventory, identity, email, backups, EDR, who has admin, and whether anyone has ever restored a file on purpose. We will not quote unsourced “88% of businesses” statistics to scare you into a cart.
What this is not
This is not a 24/7 security operations center with analysts in three time zones. Continuous monitoring of covered systems can exist; a room full of overnight hunters does not, and we will not advertise one. Incident response during business hours is the default. If you need a named MDR vendor in front of that, we can talk about it as a product—not as something we pretend to staff.
We do not publish fake review stars or an aggregateRating in schema. We do not claim certifications or Microsoft Partner tiers on this page. If a control is not in your tenant yet, the report will say so.
Vendor-shaped blog posts (old product pitches) are not the security program. Use this page and the 2026 articles as the indexable hub; those older pitches may be noindexed.
How it attaches to managed IT and Microsoft 365
If we already manage the tenant, cybersecurity is mostly tightening what is there and adding the controls that are missing. If we do not, a cybersecurity engagement can still be scoped as a project: assessment, identity hardening, backup fix, EDR roll-out, tabletop. You can keep another MSP for break-fix if that is the politics; we will be explicit about who owns which alert.
Phishing simulations and staff training are available; they work better after the technical holes are closed. Sending fake phish to a company with no MFA is theater.
West Monroe, Monroe, and Ruston companies get the same control set as a remote client. Geography changes on-site response, not whether MFA is required.
What is included
- MFA, Conditional Access, and privileged account hygiene
- Email security and phishing reporting paths
- DNS filtering to block known-bad destinations
- Endpoint detection and response (EDR), not legacy antivirus alone
- Backup design with restore tests, including Microsoft 365
- Ransomware-readiness checklist and tabletop conversation
How we work
- Start with identity and backups—the two controls that decide most SMB incidents—before shopping for a new appliance.
- Map MFA, email, DNS filtering, EDR, and restore testing to what you already own in Microsoft 365 where possible.
- Write a ransomware-ready sequence: who you call, what you restore, what you pay (spoiler: have backups so that question is less interesting).
- Keep human response on business hours unless an agreement says otherwise; monitoring can still be continuous.
On-site vs remote
Most cybersecurity work is remote (tenant and endpoint policy). On-site in Northeast Louisiana is for network changes, new filtering appliances, or tabletop sessions with the people who would actually be in the building during an incident.
Cities we serve
Identity and endpoint work for Ouachita Parish, Lincoln Parish, and remote staff on the same tenant. Physical network changes follow the same on-site pattern as managed IT.

Frequently asked questions
Do you offer 24/7 cybersecurity monitoring?+
Covered systems can be monitored continuously. Human investigation and help desk are Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Central unless an agreement says otherwise. We do not operate a 24/7 SOC.
Is this included in managed IT?+
Baselines—MFA, backup discipline, DNS filtering, endpoint hygiene—are part of managed IT. This page is the deeper program: identity architecture, email security, EDR, ransomware tabletop, and training.
Can you harden a Microsoft 365 tenant we already have?+
Yes. That is the most common cybersecurity project. We start with admin roles, MFA, Conditional Access, and mailbox/SharePoint sharing.
Do you install firewalls and EDR?+
When they are the right control, yes. We will not lead with hardware if identity and backups are the actual gap.
Will you train our staff on phishing?+
Yes. Training is paired with reporting paths and technical filters. See the phishing article for the public version of that approach.
Do you store our logs in a SIEM?+
Only if we have scoped that. Many SMBs get more risk reduction from MFA and restore tests than from a SIEM they will never look at.
What happens if we are hit with ransomware?+
The honest answer depends on backups and identity, which is why those are first. We help you prepare that path in advance rather than inventing a war room in copy.
Can Ruston or nationwide remote staff be included?+
Yes. Identity and device policy are tenant-wide. On-site network changes follow the managed IT travel pattern.
