What managed IT means here—not a national queue

Managed IT is the unglamorous work that keeps a Northeast Louisiana company from living in emergency mode: watching the servers and Microsoft 365 tenant, patching before the exploit is a news cycle, restoring a backup because you tested it, and answering the person whose Outlook died twenty minutes before a closing. At NewRockIT that work is founder-led. Josh Haber designs the environment and still takes the call. That is slower to scale than a 50-person MSP, and it is the product.

Break-fix shops wait for something to fail, then invoice. National MSPs often assign you a dispatcher and a technician who has never seen your wiring closet. The middle path we actually run is a named practice: documented systems, monitoring that pages when something is wrong, and help desk during published hours. If you need a follow-the-sun NOC and a contractual 15-minute on-site SLA at 2:00 AM, say so on the first call. We will not invent that capability in marketing copy.

Managed IT here always includes a security bias—MFA, DNS filtering, endpoint visibility, and backup discipline—because “we will add security later” is how ransomware stories start. It is not a separate SKU you have to beg for. Deeper identity, email security, EDR, and ransomware tabletop work also live on the cybersecurity page if you want that as a focused engagement.

What is included in a typical managed engagement

Monitoring covers the systems we agree to own: workstations, servers or NAS boxes, Microsoft 365 health where APIs allow, backup jobs, and the network gear we have credentials for. Alerts are triaged during business hours. Continuous monitoring is not the same thing as a human answering the phone at midnight. We will use those words precisely in an agreement.

Help desk is Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Central, by phone, email, or a Splashtop session you launch. After hours, monitoring still collects signals; we do not advertise technicians “available day or night” as a default. If a client needs a defined after-hours path, that is a written exception, not a slogan.

Patching, backup verification, and vendor wrangling (the copier, the phone system, the line-of-business ISV who only talks to “your IT person”) are part of owning the environment. When the phone system is the project, that is SimpleVoice—our hosted VoIP—so the numbers, attendants, and apps sit next to the same Microsoft 365 tenant. See the VoIP page. Hardware lifecycle advice is included; we do not require you to buy PCs from a specific catalog, though Lenovo partner offers exist if they actually fit.

Reporting is monthly and readable. Owners in West Monroe do not want a 40-page RMM dump. They want: what broke, what we patched, what is aging out, and whether backups restored in a test. That is the standard.

On-site in Ouachita Parish, remote everywhere else

West Monroe is home base. Monroe is the other half of the Twin Cities. Ruston is a planned drive west on I-20. Calhoun, Bastrop, Farmerville, and Sterlington are in the same pattern: we come on-site when the work is physical, and we do not pretend a printer jam in Ruston is a five-minute hop. See the West Monroe, Monroe, and Ruston pages for how that feels in each city.

Nationwide remote clients get the same tenant standards and the same person. Splashtop does not care whether you are in Ouachita Parish or another state. What we will not do is promise a truck roll in a city where we have no presence.

New offices, clinic build-outs, and camera or access-point work are project-shaped. They can sit on top of managed IT or stand alone. The Microsoft 365 and custom development practices exist so you are not hiring a second firm to finish the job the MSP will not touch.

If you already have an internal IT person

Co-managed IT is the normal pattern when someone already works in the building. They stay the person staff walk up to. NewRockIT owns the Microsoft 365 tenant, backups, monitoring, and the controls that are easy to let drift: MFA, patching, and a restore that has been tried. We do not arrive to replace a competent internal person.

The split is written down in discovery. If the internal person wants to keep the firewall and the printers, that is fine. If they want us to take the tenant and the alerts, that is also fine. What we will not do is leave admin passwords in a shared inbox and call it a partnership.

What changes a managed IT quote

There is no published per-seat menu. A quote moves with how many people we support, how many sites we cover, whether servers or a NAS are in scope, which Microsoft licenses you already own, and whether after-hours response is a written exception or simply business hours.

A single West Monroe office on Microsoft 365 with no server is a different job than three sites, a line-of-business server, and a request for someone on the phone at 2:00 AM. We will say which of those is in the number. We will not invent a dollar price on this page.

What is included

  • Continuous monitoring and proactive issue resolution
  • Help desk during Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Patch management, backups, and disaster recovery planning
  • Endpoint protection, DNS filtering, and ransomware readiness
  • Vendor management and hardware lifecycle guidance
  • Monthly performance reporting and strategic recommendations

How we work

  1. Discovery call to learn the environment, Microsoft 365 tenant, backups, and who actually gets called when something breaks.
  2. A written picture of what we will own versus what stays in-house or with another vendor—no mystery “unlimited IT” contract language.
  3. Onboarding: documentation, monitoring agents, backup verification, identity and MFA review, and a simple way for staff to request help.
  4. Steady-state: patching, monitoring, help desk during business hours, monthly notes that a owner can read, and projects queued instead of surprise invoices.

On-site vs remote

Most tickets close remotely over Splashtop SOS, which you start from the Help page so the session is initiated by you. On-site work is for hardware, wireless, new offices, and anything in a rack or ceiling in West Monroe, Monroe, Ruston, and nearby towns during business hours. We do not sell 24/7 on-site coverage.

Cities we serve

On-site by arrangement in West Monroe, Monroe, Ruston, Calhoun, Bastrop, Farmerville, Sterlington, and the rest of Ouachita Parish. Remote support nationwide for the same Microsoft 365 and endpoint stack.

Frequently asked questions

How much do managed IT services cost in West Monroe or Monroe?+

It depends on user count, which systems we own, and Microsoft licensing. We quote after a discovery call so the number matches your stack. There is no published per-seat menu and no bait price.

Is support 24/7 or business hours plus monitoring?+

Human help desk and on-site work are Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Central. Monitoring of covered systems runs continuously. We do not claim 24/7 on-site coverage or overnight technicians as a default.

Do you serve Ruston, Calhoun, or Bastrop on-site?+

Yes, by appointment during business hours. Ruston is about 35–40 minutes from West Monroe. Calhoun and Bastrop are regular service-area drives. Day-to-day tickets are usually remote.

How does Splashtop remote support work?+

You start the session from the Help page. That downloads the NewRockIT Splashtop SOS package so a technician can see your screen with your approval. Never run a remote tool because someone called claiming to be IT.

How are you different from a national MSP?+

You work with the founder who designs and supports the environment. Microsoft 365, custom software, and managed IT sit in one practice. We will not match a 50-person national bench or a 15-minute physical SLA at 2:00 AM.

Can you take over from another IT company?+

Yes. We document credentials, tenants, and backups first, then cut over admin access without a theatrical “rip and replace” unless the current stack is actually unsafe.

Do you only support Microsoft shops?+

Microsoft 365 is the default workplace stack we are strongest in. Mixed environments happen; we will say when a system is outside what we should own.

Is cybersecurity included?+

Baseline MFA, backups, DNS filtering, and endpoint hygiene are part of managed IT. Deeper identity, email security, EDR, and ransomware readiness are documented on the cybersecurity page and scoped explicitly.

Can you work alongside our internal IT person?+

Yes. Co-managed IT keeps your person as the on-site relationship. We take the tenant, backups, monitoring, and the controls that drift. The split is written down before anyone changes admin access.

What changes a managed IT quote?+

User count, number of sites, servers or NAS devices in scope, Microsoft licensing you already own, and whether after-hours response is a written exception. We quote after discovery. There is no public dollar menu.
